About Me
I’m Ash Browne, a surf coach based in Noosa Heads
I’m Ash Browne, a surf coach based in Noosa Heads with over 14 years of coaching experience and 19 years surfing. I originally started coaching through Manly Surf School and over the years developed a coaching style focused on technical understanding, ocean awareness, and direct feedback.
I strongly believe time in the water matters, and a huge part of my own development came from spending countless hours surfing in all kinds of conditions. But I also understand many surfers are balancing work, family life, and limited surf time. My goal is to help people make better use of the time they do have in the water by improving positioning, decision making, technical awareness, and overall understanding of the ocean.
A large focus of my coaching is helping surfers better understand waves, tides, swell, currents, timing, and surf conditions while improving the small technical details that make the biggest difference to progression. I aim to help surfers become more independent in their decision making rather than simply relying on surf apps or following the crowd.
I also have a strong interest in physical movement, body mechanics, and the psychology of surfing — particularly confidence in crowds, decision making under pressure, and the mindset required to improve in challenging conditions.
